The Reel Tight was launched in 2017. She features 5 staterooms and 4 heads. The 86 has gained quite a reputation as a great sea boat. Roy Merritt worked on the bottom design to increase dead rise for a good head sea run and overall seakeeping ability. The 26 SeaKeeper keeps her stable while trolling with minimal roll. Her maneuverability has a level of agility that few boats over 80-feet have without using so much power.
Her expansive cockpit is well laid out with a massive mezzanine that features an L-shaped lounge with drink box, storage under with hi-lo table to port and arm rest with cockpit air controls, security keypad and other controls inside. A single mezzanine seat to starboard has an armrest with drink box under. On the mezzanine deck there are three deep and wide cavernous freezers, two to port and one to starboard with the engine room access on the center line as well as large 80-gallon livewells on each outboard side.
Under the cockpit sole houses the majority of her fuel and dry hatches to access the SeaKeeper and lazarette, a nice set up for maintaining the many components there. Fully aft is large athwartship fish box with Eskimo Ice dump. There are under gunnel storage boxes, and a walk-through transom door.
The interior is classic Merritt satin finished teak throughout with many upgrades including ceiling beams, leather wall coverings with raised teak panels below in the companionway. The galley is to port with hidden cooktop, convection microwave oven, toaster oven, custom pot/pan storage, dish and silverware storage, one Sub-Zero drawer freezer and five Sub-Zero refrigerators, there is an abundance of under and over counter storage.
A large dinette is forward to starboard with stone top and storage under the seats. A spacious salon with high ceilings, corner mount large screen TV, expansive leather u-shaped settee with storage under to port, lounge bench with storage under to starboard, custom salon table that expands and lifts to become a full dining table seating 8.
Moving below the stairway is lined with teak wainscoting moving forward through the companionway to a laundry closet with dual over and under washer and dryer to starboard. The master stateroom to port features a king bed with storage under, satin teak cabinetry and closets an enlarged ensuite head with full shower, granite vanity countertops, sink with medicine cabinets, storage under, fresh water head and bidet.
To starboard is a full stateroom with over and under bunks, closet and drawers that shares a full head with the stateroom forward of the master on the port side of the companionway. The port stateroom has over under bunks full closet and drawers as well. Fully forward is the VIP that features island berth with storage under, two full length closets and an ensuite head with vanity, granite counter tops and large shower.
The crew quarters is under the galley and is accessed at the base of the companionway stairs and features full size over and under bunks and full head. There’s access to the pump room and engine room though the crew quarters water tight door.
The pump room is well laid out with all AC chillers, two of Watermaker Inc. watermakers, two Spot Zero water purifiers, two hot water heaters, mechanics bench mount tool box and full work bench with vise. There is nothing dainty about the systems mounting and equipment sizes, everything is oversized and redundant.
Entering the engine room through either the pump room or the cockpit water tight doors brings you to a machinery space that is not only well executed but its hard not to notice the robust, over-sized mounts. Filters and engine service access points are easily accessed all around the engines. A pair of Northern Lights 38KW generators are mounted at the aft end of the engines with complete 360-degree access for easy maintenance.
Her flying bridge is open and roomy. Forward of the console is an L-shaped lounge to starboard with storage under, large table and a drink box forward. Under the forward brow is plenty of storage for lifejackets and a host of other things. To port is another drink box forward with a fore and aft bench seat and storage under then a storage cabinet.
