What is a Poker Run?

A poker run is an event where participants, using some form of transportation (boats in this case), visit anywhere from 5 to 7 locations and draw a playing card at each one. The point is for each team to get the best poker hand by the time they are done. Many poker runs are associated with a charity of some sort, and it is a great way to do some good while having fun with others.

Leverick Bay Poker Run

2020 marks the 19th year for the annual Leverick Bay Poker Run and it is so popular now, it’s almost its own holiday. It is one of the most anticipated boating events in the BVI. In 2020 they are anticipating over 300 boats that will be participating and competing for over $15,000 in prizes. This is a family event and folks from all over the Caribbean and the US show up for it every year.  The date is set for Memorial Day (May 24, 2020). Virgin Gorda Charitable Trust is the main charity for this year’s event.

FPC’s 25th Annual Miami Boat Show Poker Run

If you own a go-fast boat, then this is the fun run for you. The folks at Florida Powerboat Club put on plenty of Poker Runs during the year, and one of the most memorable takes place during the Miami Boat Show. This year’s event will take participants from Miami down to Key Largo.

Desert Storm Poker Run and Shootout 2020

Named “One of the Top Five Poker Runs in the Nation” by Performance Boats Magazine, this Poker Run attracts some of the most prestigious power-performance boats around. As a spectator on a boat, you’ll be sure to be up close and personal when these monsters scream by. This multi-day event starts with a street party and static display on Thursday, a parade and Poker Run on Friday, and a Shootout on Saturday.

The Sault Ste. Marie Can-Am Poker Run

Regarded as the premier boating event of the north, this poker run is held right on the border between US and Canada (Ontario and Michigan), hence the name Can-Am. The breath-taking scenery of the area provides a perfect backdrop for the event.
