Meet Yachts360 Broker Robert “Jordy” Croswait
This week we had the opportunity to speak with Manteo native Capt. Jordy Croswait who is one of the most recent additions to the Yachts360 team. We discussed his family’s boating background, his passion for fishing, and his future with Yachts360.
Where is your hometown and what originally sparked your interest in boating/yachting?
I was born in Manteo, North Carolina where my family has a long history of fishing and boat building dating back to over 50 years. I started mating when I was 11 years old in the summers which eventually turned into my full time job right out of high school. From there, I earned my 100 ton license and began my career in captaining sportfish boats out of Oregon Inlet.
My Grandad was the legendary boat builder and charter fisherman Captain Buddy Cannady (Capt. BC). He was a big influence on my father which is reflected on myself and the career path I have chosen in the boating industry.
What was your first boat and/or boating memory?
My first boat was a brand new 18 foot C Hawk I purchased when I was 13 years old with the money I earned from working on my family’s head boat, “Crystal Dawn”.
Would you rather Captain, Mate or just be along for the ride?
I have been in either position. I will say when mating, it is one thing to have your tackle right to catch fish, but it is a different kind of excitement to be the one responsible for putting your crowd on the fish or in some cases the lack of! So, I would have to go with Captain if I had to choose.
What is your favorite aspect of being a Yachts360 broker?
I was very excited to come on board with Yachts360 because it was a company with real people that share equal experiences as myself. The yachting industry is a very tough business to be in with competition all over the globe and to have the opportunity to help clients find the right boat for their family’s needs is a great responsibility and honor. I have been blessed to have been raised in the sportfishing/boating industry and to be able to use that knowledge to help people find the right boat for them is pretty awesome!
